Dr. Caterina D’Accardo received her Master’s degree in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies in 2018 at the University of Pavia at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit of Policlinico San Matteo. In 2019 she won a scholarship in the context of a project entitled “Hight-speed label-free broadband vibrational imaging of lipid biomolecules in cells and organotypic cultures” in collaboration with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), held at the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Physiopathology from the University of Palermo. Since 2020, she has been a PhD student in Molecular Medicine and Clinician at the University of Palermo, under the supervision of Professor Giorgio Stassi. During her PhD she acquired the most innovative skills concerning the isolation and characterisation of cancer stem cells isolated by biopsy performing in vitro assay, and the development of experimental models of xenotransplantation of cancer stem cells in immunodeficient mice. Moreover, she acquired the ability to isolate lymphocytes, optimise the transduction of T cells with a CAR gene construct, and perform an in vitro cytotoxic assay. In 2019, Dr. D’Accardo joined the Laboratory of Cellular and Molecular Oncology, headed by Prof. Giorgio Stassi, at the Palermo University, where she works as a Postdoctoral Fellow.
